Story

Hi everyone,

The Brisbane Team at Lagardère AWPL is proud to be taking part in the Live Like Her Challenge 2026. For one night, I will be sleeping in my car to raise funds for The Forgotten Women, a charity dedicated to providing safe and secure housing for women over 55 who are facing homelessness.

Having a safe place to call home is something many of us take for granted. For a growing number of older women in our community, however, housing insecurity is a daily reality. Through this challenge, we're helping to restore dignity, provide stability, and give women the chance to age safely and securely in their own homes.

Currently, more than 1,000 women over 55 across Brisbane and the Gold Coast are experiencing homelessness, and this number is projected to more than double in the coming years.

If you're able to, please make a donation. Together, we can help change lives and ensure more women have a safe place to call home.

    The Forgotten Women is Mangrove Community Homes' flagship project, a unique, grassroots housing initiative dedicated to women over 55 experiencing homelessness - the fastest growing cohort in Australia today. The Forgotten Women's mission is simple: to put a safe roof over the heads of as many vulnerable older women as possible. Through the acquisition of suitable properties, the project provides secure, safe, affordable housing that enables older women to age in place with security, stability and dignity.
